Wenzhou University (WZU) is a comprehensive regional university founded with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China. It was settled through the merger of Wenzhou Normal College and the Former Wenzhou University, which were established in the year of 1956 and 1984 respectively.
Recently, there are 20 colleges in WZU, with a full-time student population of 24,960. The number of faculty members, administrative and supporting staff is 1,950, among which 1,310 are full-time teachers (including 167 professors, 448 associate professors), 181 are mentors for postgraduates and doctorate students, and 201 are academic or technological leaders at the provincial or municipal level.
The university is situated in the beautiful and prosperous city of Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province. Wenzhou is a coastal city in the south-eastern part of China; it is the economic and cultural center as well as the transportation hub of the southern region of Zhejiang province, with Shanghai & Hangzhou to its north, Fujian, and Guangdong to its south. The two main campuses of WZU are located in Wenzhou Chashan University Town, an area surrounded by green mountains and blue rivers. The university has a total area of 1.7 square kilometers (i.e. 419 acres), and the housing area is 820,000 square meters. The library boasts a collection of approximately 1.59 million books. The value of teaching instruments & research equipment totaled 200 million RMB.
Wenzhou University (WZU) was authorized to award master degrees in the year of 2003, and recently 20 disciplines are enlisted to award M.A. or M.S. degrees. There are 45 undergraduate programs, among which 6 are provincial key programs, 2 trial programs of educational reform sponsored by the Ministry of Education. The undergraduate programs cover 9 major discipline areas, which are History, Science, Engineering, and Management. And there are 4 provincial key disciplines: Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Theory of Literature and Art, Philosophy, Economics, Law, Pedagogics, Literature and the Study of Folklore. According to a report by the China University Alumni Association (CUAA) in 2007, the university has 4 discipline categories ranked Top 100 among all the universities in China, these discipline categories are the Science of Law, Pedagogics, Literature, and Science.
Wenzhou University has 45 research institutes, 27 laboratories and experiment centers; among those 1 is a provincial key laboratory, 4 are key laboratories at the municipal level. During the 10th 5 year Plan Period, WZU gained the lead of 19 National Natural Science Fund projects, 11 National Social Science Fund projects, 58 Provincial Science and Engineering projects, 167 Provincial Humanities and Social Science projects, 167 Municipal Science and Engineering projects, 180 Municipal Humanities and Social Science projects, and achieved 7 Provincial Technological Innovation titles, 13 Provincial Social Science Achievement titles.
The number of high-quality papers was greatly increased, in the years of 2005 and 2006, more than 300 papers had been cited by the SCI indexes. According to findings currently announced by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, WZU ranked top 100 in terms of papers included by SCI indexes among all the universities in China.
Wenzhou University concept of running the university is “student-centered, quality-based, developing excellence and features while providing educational and research service for the broader community”, with “Keep learning and seeking truth with robust pioneering spirits” as the motto of the university. Wenzhou University promotes a “3 self-determination” reform for its students, which is to encourage students to choose their majors/specialties, courses in a curriculum, and teachers/tutors on their own; and WZU has the Credit System, Major and Subsidiary Courses System, Double Majors and Double Degrees System carried out.
With these efforts, in sync with others, WZU hopes to achieve the objective of diversification in educational methods and goals, the management of teaching affairs. The graduates from WZU are well received by employers both from an outside Wenzhou because of their preparedness and suitability to their jobs and also their open and innovative minds. In current years, the employment rates of WZU graduates is steadily kept at above 90% and it has been found through follow-up investigation that over 92.5% of employers are satisfied with graduates from WZU.
Wenzhou University had been authorized to recruit international students, and it is one of the earliest Bases of Chinese Language Education. Many fields are open in WZU to cooperate with foreign institutions of higher learning. Today, WZU has entered into cooperative relationships with over 20 educational institutions and scientific research institutes of U.S., U.K., and Japan in the form of joint educational programs, student exchanges, visiting scholar schemes, and so on. Apply for a course in a Chinese University is very easy. Students just have to follow some steps to apply for their favorite course. In order to help students complete their online application, International students are recommended to follow the simple instructions.
Foreign applicants must provide the following documents to apply:

2. Passport & Passport Size Photo (Scan copy )
Dear student, the first thing you need to have a passport. This is more important documents because without a passport you can not go to study in your dream country. To have passport make you secure to live or study abroad. So if you don’t have it, we suggest you make your passport ready from the embassy office in your home country. Moreover if you have your passport already, then make sure your passport expiry date will not be expired. If it already be expired then you need to remake your passport.
The passport photo size (50mm x 40mm) in general. The photo should be clear and the background must be plain, white or off-white in color. The height of the head should be between 28mm – 33mm.The head width has to be between 21mm–24mm. Submit a color photo, taken in the last 6 months. Use a clear image of your face. 3. Transcripts & Certificates (Must be Notarized Copy )
Students for Bachelor Degree need to provide their school transcripts and certificates. For Master Degree Applicants have to bring their undergraduate transcripts and certificates. And Doctorate Degree studies must provide their both (undergraduate and graduate) transcripts and certificates.
Please take as a note that is, all the transcripts and certificates should be notarized.
Note : Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.
4. English Proficiency Certificate
In China, some universities does not asked IELTS but if you study in Chinese Taught for CSC scholarship, English Proficiency Certificate need to have ready. If you have IELTS already then you are lucky to study in China without delay.
5. CV/Resume
Applicants must have to prepare their CV if they want to study abroad in their desired country. The Resume or CV should include their academic qualifications with results, personal details (name, date of birth, marital status, national Id or school Id, physical address, contact no, nationality, language, etc), reference from your institution’s faculty (his/her name, address and designation), personal achievement, etc. To know how to make a standard CV please click here the sample of The Resume.
6. Study Plan or Research Proposal (Ms/PhD)
Applicants for graduate studies need a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words). This document is required only for Ms or PhD applicants.
7. Recommendation Letter (Ms/PhD)
Applicants for all graduate studies need two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). Letters must be include professors’ phone number and email address. Here is the sample of Recommendation Letter.
8. Published Academic Papers or Other Academic Achievements (if applicable).
9. Foreign Physical Examination
Applicants are expected to keep the original copies filled in English. The medical examination must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. 10. Bank Statement
Bank statements must show to any foreign country for the purpose of a visitor or a business or an immigrants. For the study purpose in foreign countries also need to show bank statement. So dear applicants, you will need to have ready your all documents. Sponsorship can be your parents or anyone whom are your blood related.
11. Police Verification (No Criminal Record)
This is also need to have ready for the study purpose. It is important because foreign country does not allow criminal record. A Police Clearance Certificate is an official document approved by the police or government agencies in order to prove that the applicant has no criminal offense against him/her like arrest, conviction.
