Prepare Your Departure:

Apply for a course in a Chinese University is very easy.  Students just have to follow some steps to apply for their favorite course. In order to help students complete their online application, International students are recommended to follow the following simple instructions. International applicants must provide the following documents to apply:

1.Application Form fills in Chinese or in English.

2.Passport & Passport Size Photo (Scan copy of the applicant’s )

3.Transcripts & Certificates  (Must be Notarized Copy )

For Bachelor Degree applicants, they need to only provide high school transcripts and certificates. And for Master Degree applicants, they need to  show their undergraduate transcripts and certificates.  Applicants for Doctorate Degree have to provide their both (undergraduate and graduate) transcripts and certificates. 

Note: All the applicants degree (Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate) transcripts and certificates should be notarized and language should be in Chinese or English version.

4.English Proficiency Certificate

In China, some universities does not asked IELTS but if you study in Chinese Taught for CSC scholarship, English Proficiency Certificate need to have ready. If you have IELTS already then you are lucky to study in China without delay.

5.CV/Resume

Applicants must have to make their CV if you want to study abroad in your desired country. In your Resume or CV, there have to be your academic qualifications with results, personal details (name, date of birth, marital status, national Id or school Id, physical address, contact no, nationality, language, etc), reference from your institution’s faculty (his/her name, address and designation), personal achievement, etc. To know how to make a standard CV please click here the sample of The Resume.

6.Study Plan or Research Proposal

Applicants for graduate studies need a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words). This document required only for Ms or PhD applicants.

7.Recommendation Letter

Applicants for all graduate studies need two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). Letters must be include professors’ phone number and email address. Here is the sample of Recommendation Letter

8.Published Academic Papers or Other Academic Achievements (if  applicable).

9.Foreign Physical Examination

Applicants are expected to keep the original copies filled in English. The medical examination must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration as they plan to take the medical examination. 10.Bank Statement 

Bank statements must show to any foreign country for the purpose of a visitor or a business or an immigrants. For the study purpose in foreign countries also need to show bank statement. So dear applicants, you will need to have ready your all documents. Sponsorship can be your parents or anyone whom are your blood related.

11.Police Verification (No Criminal Record)

This is also need to have ready for the study purpose. It is important because foreign country does not allow criminal record. A Police Clearance Certificate is an official document approved  by the police or government agencies in order to prove that the applicant has no criminal offense against him/her like arrest, conviction. To be eligible, applicants must: 

1) Be a non-Chinese citizen in good health. 

2) Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs. 

3) Be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs. 

4) Be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for bachelor’s programs.

Founded in 1984, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL) focuses primarily on undergraduate education. With the tenet of “all for students”, the university attaches great importance to giving full play to students’ potential and individualism, offering every opportunity in academic innovation and free choice of learning, fostering their sense of social responsibility and capability to create and practice. With the key discipline of law, the university now has a multidisciplinary system composed of politics, economics, sociology, management, language, and literature, etc. SHUPL is heading for the destination of being a characteristic and top university in China. 

SHUPL now has three master programs: law theories, constitutional and administrative law studies, and criminology. The university is authorized to award a master’s degree in law. Also the university has more than 30 undergraduate programs: law, penology, intellectual property, economics, business administration, financial management, international economics and trade, auditing, economics and finance, sociology, social work, labor and social security, applied psychology, politics and administration, international politics, public administration, Chinese language and literature, journalism, television broadcasting, English, Russian, ideological and political education. There are seven associate-degree programs including legal affairs etc. and three programs (law, public administration and penology) for students who upgrade from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree. 

 The law study in SHUPL is listed as one of the top five universities in Shanghai. The university is also “Shanghai Training Base for Elite Legal Talents” and“Shanghai Training Base for International Elite Legal Talents”, and therefore is one of the double bases of the five universities in Shanghai. The two undergraduate programs of penology and social work are nationally characteristic majors. Our administrative law, criminology and economics are key disciplines in Shanghai. Administrative law and criminal sociology are funded by the national government. The university is well-known for its law study (in the direction of criminal justice), penology, social work, law, international politics in Shanghai. Legal education has a national field school. 

 The university also has a team of faculty with an optimal age combination. Many teachers are in close touch with the professional circles at home and abroad and have an international vision. With a staff of about 600, 500 of them are teachers, among whom nearly 50% are professors and associate professors, and 90% have doctor’s and master’s degrees. Eight are qualified Ph.D. supervisors, 48 are qualified, master supervisors.

SHUPL is actively engaged in China’s major diplomacy and security strategies. On September 13, 2013, President Xi Jinping proclaimed in the Bishkek Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that China would find China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation in SHUPL, and would help train judicial personnel for other member countries. This is the first time that the head of state has declared that a national program is undertaken by a university. For two years the Political and Judiciary Commission under the Central Committee of CPC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education, etc. have been standing behind SHUPL, and thus the program has been advancing and achieving success. In the meantime, in August 2015, SHUPL, together with Qinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China University of Political Science and Law, is listed by the Supreme Court as one of the judicial research bases of “One Belt, One Road”. 

At present, there are more than 10,000 full-time students on campus, with various levels of postgraduates, undergraduates, associate-degree students, and overseas students. The university is situated at the foot of Sheshan Mountain–the famous scenic resort in Shanghai and is known as the “garden institute”, covering an area of over 72 hectares and floor area of 210,000 sq. m.
