China Medical University has 2 campuses, one in Shenbei New Area and the other in Heping District of Shenyang City. It has 33 colleges and departments. CMU is accepted to issue degrees in the field of medicine, education, science, engineering, philosophy and management. The university offers doctoral degree in basic medicine, public health, clinical medicine, biology, stomatology, and preventive medicine and nursing. 

CMU has 53 programs of doctoral degree, 63 programs of master degree and 21 programs of bachelor degree. It has 5 national key disciplines, 40 national key programs of clinical specialties of National Health and Family Planning Commission, 1 national key discipline in cultivation, and 7 postdoctoral research stations. This school  has 3 general affiliated hospitals and 1 dental hospital, with 10785 beds in use and 240 dentistry complex therapy chair.

China Medical University (CMU) was settled in the year 1931. It was a university associated with Ministry of Health (MOH) previously and now it is a university co-constructed by Ministry of Education(MOE), National Health and Family Planning Commission and Liaoning Province.  In 1940, CMU proposed by Comrade Mao Zedong and accepted by Central Committee of Chinese Communist Party, the school changed its name to China Medical University.

In 1948, it took over the former national Shenyang Medical School (formerly known as the Manchuria Medical College established by the Japanese South Manchuria Railway in 1911) and the former private Liaoning Medical College (formerly known as Shengjing Medical College, established by the United Presbyterian Church of Scotland in 1883). China Medical University was also one of the earliest schools that delivered college education of western medicine in China. Since its establishment, CMU has educated over 90 thousand senior medical professionals including 9 Ministers or Vice Ministers of the central government, over 40 generals of the army and 14 intellectual of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.

CMU (China Medical University) has 9157 registered staff. Among of them, there are 751 professors and 1087 co-worker professors. 1240 are postgraduate supervisors. Recently, there are 15548 full-time students, amongst whom 1182 are doctor degree students, 4821 are master degree students and 9081 undergraduate students. There are 1156 international students from 69 countries are studying in CMU. The school occupies an area of 1.1105 million square meters. The Department of Experimental Animals is also in the Liaoning provincial quality inspection center of experimental animals as well as the supporting unit of Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory of Transgenic Animal. The library has a storage of 1.254 million books and 21 TB e-resources. It organizes and publishes 15 journals.

The university has an extensive international collaborations. For example, cooperating with The Queen’s University of Belfast in the UK, CMU settled in China Medical University-The Queen’s University of Belfast Joint College (CQC) in 2014. Up to now, it has established  an international links with 87 universities and research institutions from several countries and areas such as America, Britain, Canada, France, Japan, Russia, Korea, Australia, Italy, Denmark, Spain, North Korea, Finland, Macau and Taiwan. It has also conducted cooperation with the World Bank Group (WBG), China Medical Board (CMB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency. In total, 408 world-famous experts have been awarded honorary title by CMU till now, and 73 important international cooperation programs have been carried out, including 37 CMB programs.

Detailed information of China Medical University MBBS Fee Structure

1) Tuition Fee: 40,000 RMB\year

2) Accommodation Fee:  7,500 RMB (Single Room)

3) Medical Insurance:  800 RMB/year

4) Books: around 3000 RMB for the first year

5) Resident permit:  800 RMB/year

6) Physical examination: 700 RMB

7)  Living Expense:  2,000 to  2,450 RMB/ Month

Admission Procedure

Applying for any course at China Medical University is very easy. Following some easy steps, you can easily apply for your desired course. you can complete your application online by following some simple steps. 

Here is the detail information about the required admission documents. International applicants are highly recommended to provide the following documents.

1. Passport Size Photo & Passport (Scan copy)

Passport

The first thing you must need to have a passport. This is a very essential document because without a passport you can not go abroad or your dream country where you want to study or live. To have a passport makes you feel secure to live. So if you don’t have it yet, we advise you to make your passport ready from the embassy office in your home country as soon as possible. Moreover, if you already have your passport,  then make sure your passport is not expired. If your passport already expired then you need to renew it. Here is a sample of a passport.

Passport Size Photo

The general size of the passport size photo is (50mm x 40mm). Applying for admission, your passport size photo should be clear and the background must be plain, white or off-white in color. The height of the head has to be between 28mm – 33mm and head width has to be between 21mm–24mm. Advice to submit a color photo which is taken in the last 6 months. Use a clear picture of your face. Do not use any filters and take off your eyeglasses for passport size photos, selfies or pictures with someone do not use as a passport size photo. Here is a sample of a Passport Size Photo.

2. Transcripts & Certificates  (Must be Notarized Copy)

If you are interested to apply for Bachelor’s Degree you need to provide your school transcripts and certificates. For a Master’s Degree, you have to provide your undergraduate transcripts and certificates, And for doctorate degree, you have to provide your both (undergraduate and graduate) transcripts and certificates. 

Note: All the applicant’s transcripts and certificates must be notarized and language should be in Chinese or English version.

3. Police Verification (No Criminal Record)

Police clearance is very important for going to abroad because a foreign country does not allow any criminal records. A Police Clearance Certificate is an official document approved by the police or government agencies to prove that you have no criminal offense against you like arrest, conviction. This Certificate is also known as a good citizen certificate. See the sample of the Police Clearance Certificate.

4. Foreigners Physical Examination/Checkup/Report

You must have to fill the original copies in English. The medical examination must include all the items which are listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete reports or without the signature of the attending physician and the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed picture of yours are invalid. Medical examination results will be valid for the next 6 months, after 6 months you have to do it again. 5. English Proficiency Certificate

IELTS is not necessary for all Chinese universities but if you want CSC scholarship English proficiency certificate is very important. If you have done IELTS already then you are welcome to study in China without any delay.

6. CV/Resume

You must have to prepare your CV or resume to study abroad in your desired country. Academic qualifications with results, personal details (name, date of birth, marital status, physical address, national Id or school Id, nationality, language, contact no,  etc), reference from your institution’s faculty (his/her name, address, and designation), personal achievement, etc are must for a perfect CV. 7. Study Plan or Research Proposal (Ms/Ph.D)

If you want to apply for MS/Ph.D you must need a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English (no less than 800 words). A study plan describes in detail what you are going to do with the scholarship. Explain your main educational goal, and how you want to achieve this. And keep it your mind that it is very important, that helps in an excellent organization as well as creating a sense of liability in your learning process. This document is needed only for Ms or Ph.D applicants, so please make sure that your study plan or research proposal states that information as specific as possible.

8. 2 Recommendation Letters (Ms/Ph.D)

Applicants for all graduate studies need two recommendation letters from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). The professors must have to be your known and obviously, you have completed any course with them. A recommended letter must have to mention about your academic and personal traits and emphasize the strengths that are relevant to the department or university where you are applying. Have to maintain a positive and enthusiastic tone about you. Letters must be included with professors’ phone numbers and email addresses. Here is the sample of the Recommendation Letter.

9. Published Journal or Other Academic Achievements (if applicable).

Journal publication is not mandatory for applying Ph.D. When you planned for Ph.D. in china or other countries, journal publication will play a major role in getting admission into a good University and it might help in reducing the length of your Ph.D.

10. Bank Statement

Bank statement is mandatory to show any foreign country for different purposes of a visitor, a business or immigrants. These rules are not changeable for study, students also need to show the bank statement. So, applicants, you have to ensure that your all documents are ready. Sponsorship can be your parents or any other sponsors.

11. Study Gap Certificates

If you are not a current student or after complete your bachelor you left your study then you have to submit a gap certificate. Gap certificate is an affidavit that is used to show a gap in education or further study. Gap certificate provides your statement on the non-judicial stamp paper stating the reason for taking the gap and claim that you did not take admission to any other college, university or courses during the gap year. You can get this stamp paper from any notary, sub-registry office or court and contact with an advocate they will prepare your gap certificate.

China Medical University (CMU) was the first medical school settled by the Chinese Communist Party in 1931. As the pioneer in western medicine education of China, now it ranks amongst the top 10 medical universities all over the country. Generally, it was taken by the MOE and  the MOH, in 2000, Liaoning Province. After several moving, the university finally established in Shenyang-the largest metropolis in northeast of China.

On this campus an area of 445 acres, many famous medical experts and high-ranking officials in national health administration graduated from here, and some are practicing medicine in foreign countries like USA, Japan etc. In this university, there are 28 departments involving medicine, philosophy,  education, science, engineering, and management.

China Medical University has a strong academic strength in medical teaching, offering 5 state key disciplines, 12 MOH clinical key specialties and 27 provincial key disciplines, while the clinical medicine ranks the 8th in China. CMU also consists of 2 state research bases, 1 MOE key laboratory, 1 state key laboratory cultivation base co-built by MOST and the province, 4 MOH key labs, 3 national bureau of traditional Chinese medicine research laboratories (level 3), 11 provincial key labs and 1 National Treatment Rescue Center etc.

Three connected hospitals and 1 specialized hospital have a total of 8,027 beds and 105 dental comprehensive treatment chairs. The staff team in this school contains 7,630, combining 6,126 professionals, 1 intellectual of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 448 senior professionals, 676 associate senior professionals, 205 doctoral tutors and 562 master tutors. Among of them, some are also taking administration positions in national academic societies and Academic Degree Commission of the State Council.

CMU has been teaching medicine in English medium since 1976 and begun its MBBS programs in English and Japanese languages in 2005, which was recognized by MOE in 2007. The MBBS program in English medium has reached a leading level in China and won high international reputations in this university. Recently, there are over 475 overseas students from the America, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe on campus.

CMU has built good exchange relationship with around 78 universities and research universities from Japan, USA , Britain, France, Russia, South Korea, Canada, Australia, Italy and Denmark etc and conducted  an effective cooperation with WBG, CMB, JICA etc intuitions. Over 276 international famous experts and the scholars are employed with honorary titles and up to 4,444 person-times are sent abroad for study and investigation.

In current years, 53 important international cooperation projects and 31 CMB projects are carried out. China Medical university is recognized by WHO and the graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in several countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.
