Anhui Medical University
Anhui Medical University (AMU), settled in 1926, is one of the oldest medical universities in China, a key university in Anhui Province, and also the first authorized university to admit Doctors of Medicine & Medical postdoctoral students in Anhui Province. It is situated in Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province, in the east of central China, 40 minutes from Shanghai by flight, and honored as “the city with State Innovation of Science and Technology”. There are 3 campuses are some of the renowned universities and institutions, such as University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei Institutes of Physical Sciences of China Academy of Science (CASHIPS), and Hefei University of Technology (HUT).
AMU, formerly Shanghai Southeast Medical College, was settled in Shanghai by a group of foreign students with M.D degree who returned from Japan in 1926. The idea of those pioneers was to create a medical university to save Chinese people suffering from diseases in the hard time. In 1949, Shanghai Southeast Medical College relocated to Anhui Province and became the first medical college of Anhui Province. In 1952, it renamed as Anhui Medical College. The school officially became Anhui Medical University in June 1996. The university has grown naturally after the past decades.
The spectrum of subjects has steadily been extended and now has developed into a comprehensive medical university. Different undergraduate programs & courses are being offered in 29 special departments for study and 7 years for bachelor-master program (clinical medicine). Anhui Medical University has been capable to award master’s degree in 74 specialties and doctor’s degree in 26 specialties. And the school has been authorized to settled 3 postdoctoral scientific research programs namely; Public Health, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, and Preventive Medicine. In addition, it has 12 National Key Disciplines. In the international education of medicine, the University leads the medical educational, especially in MBBS of enrolling foreign students. Over 600 overseas students study at medicine in Anhui Medical University.
Anhui Medical University composed of around 25 Schools & Departments, 25 provincial laboratories, total 8,600 enlisted students, among whom medical ones predominate and the number of international students reaches 600 among the medical students. The university consists of 2 parts—the main campus and the southern campus covering the entire area of 860,000 square meters. It’s library has a collection of 840,000 volumes and 30,000 kinds of periodical and journals as well as e-journals. It is well furnished with a campus computer network, which is also a center in Anhui for sharing biological and medical information across the nation on Internet. The library has broad relationships with other libraries, schools and research institutions both at home and abroad. The campus is placed on South No.1 Ring-Road of Hefei, with good environment and easy access.
Anhui Medical University maintain an important concept since its foundation to promote interdisciplinary combination of teaching & scientific research with clinical activities. An important step in combining the strength of medication and medical research was the realization of the necessity of establishing additional laboratories and affiliated hospitals for students practice & young scientists training. The Teaching and Research Building in the campus offers both domestic and returned overseas scientists with well-equipped laboratories and net access.
AMU has developed more than 30 hospitals for students practicing across the country, among those 5 are directly associated to the university, which enjoy high reputation in the east of the central country and other 3 newly set up hospitals have been put into use since years ago, with a total number of 4000 sickbeds. These associated hospitals fulfill their functions and perform their duties excellently in clinical treatment, research, teaching, and courses of study.
In addition to the “hardware” construction, AMU has been focusing on both basic and applied research, ranking in top one of the province-owned academic institutions in the grant harvest from the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and featuring various recognized special areas such as dermatology and venereal diseases, which is now the National Key Discipline with certain significant achievements in Genome-wide Association Study (GWAS) of psoriasis and other dermal lesions.
Pharmacology shares one of the main research areas and involves the screening & characterization of effectual compounds from Traditional Chinese Medical Herbs. These majors was the first one to be granted an independent doctoral degree award in the province. Other disciplines including epidemiology, aging and regenerative research, maternal and child care, neurology and psychology, gynecology and obstetrics, gastroenterology, infectious diseases (microbiology and parasitological), and organ transplantations, etc. are also responsible for support the new generation of scientists and further training of staff and recognized as well for their talents and overwhelming achievements in the state. Anhui Medical University has built up close links with comprehensive or medical colleges and universities of Asian, European and American countries.

Detailed information of Anhui Medical University MBBS Fee Structure
1. Tuition Fee: 30,000 RMB/year
2. Accommodation Fee: 4000 RMB/ Year (double room)
3. Dormiory Fee: 4000 RMB/ Year
4. Insurance Fee: 600 RMB/Year
5. Medical Check Up Fee: 500 RMB/ (Only for first year)

Admission Procedure
Applying for any course at Anhui Medical University is very easy. Following some easy steps, you can easily apply for your desired course. you can complete your application online by following some simple steps.
Here is the detail information about the required admission documents. International applicants are highly recommended to provide the following documents.
1. Passport Size Photo & Passport (Scan copy)
Passport
The first thing you must need to have a passport. This is a very essential document because without a passport you can not go abroad or your dream country where you want to study or live. To have a passport makes you feel secure to live. So if you don’t have it yet, we advise you to make your passport ready from the embassy office in your home country as soon as possible. Moreover, if you already have your passport, then make sure your passport is not expired. If your passport already expired then you need to renew it. Here is a sample of a passport.
Passport Size Photo
The general size of the passport size photo is (50mm x 40mm). Applying for admission, your passport size photo should be clear and the background must be plain, white or off-white in color. The height of the head has to be between 28mm – 33mm and head width has to be between 21mm–24mm. Advice to submit a color photo which is taken in the last 6 months. Use a clear picture of your face. Do not use any filters and take off your eyeglasses for passport size photos, selfies or pictures with someone do not use as a passport size photo. Here is a sample of a Passport Size Photo.
2. Transcripts & Certificates (Must be Notarized Copy)
If you are interested to apply for Bachelor’s Degree you need to provide your school transcripts and certificates. For a Master’s Degree, you have to provide your undergraduate transcripts and certificates, And for doctorate degree, you have to provide your both (undergraduate and graduate) transcripts and certificates.
Note: All the applicant’s transcripts and certificates must be notarized and language should be in Chinese or English version.
3. Police Verification (No Criminal Record)
Police clearance is very important for going to abroad because a foreign country does not allow any criminal records. A Police Clearance Certificate is an official document approved by the police or government agencies to prove that you have no criminal offense against you like arrest, conviction. This Certificate is also known as a good citizen certificate. See the sample of the Police Clearance Certificate.
4. Foreigners Physical Examination/Checkup/Report
You must have to fill the original copies in English. The medical examination must include all the items which are listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete reports or without the signature of the attending physician and the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed picture of yours are invalid. Medical examination results will be valid for the next 6 months, after 6 months you have to do it again. 5. English Proficiency Certificate
IELTS is not necessary for all Chinese universities but if you want CSC scholarship English proficiency certificate is very important. If you have done IELTS already then you are welcome to study in China without any delay.
6. CV/Resume
You must have to prepare your CV or resume to study abroad in your desired country. Academic qualifications with results, personal details (name, date of birth, marital status, physical address, national Id or school Id, nationality, language, contact no, etc), reference from your institution’s faculty (his/her name, address, and designation), personal achievement, etc are must for a perfect CV. 7. Study Plan or Research Proposal (Ms/Ph.D)
If you want to apply for MS/Ph.D you must need a study plan or research proposal in Chinese or English (no less than 800 words). A study plan describes in detail what you are going to do with the scholarship. Explain your main educational goal, and how you want to achieve this. And keep it your mind that it is very important, that helps in an excellent organization as well as creating a sense of liability in your learning process. This document is needed only for Ms or Ph.D applicants, so please make sure that your study plan or research proposal states that information as specific as possible.
8. 2 Recommendation Letters (Ms/Ph.D)
Applicants for all graduate studies need two recommendation letters from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). The professors must have to be your known and obviously, you have completed any course with them. A recommended letter must have to mention about your academic and personal traits and emphasize the strengths that are relevant to the department or university where you are applying. Have to maintain a positive and enthusiastic tone about you. Letters must be included with professors’ phone numbers and email addresses. Here is the sample of the Recommendation Letter.
9. Published Journal or Other Academic Achievements (if applicable)
Journal publication is not mandatory for applying Ph.D. When you planned for Ph.D. in china or other countries, journal publication will play a major role in getting admission into a good University and it might help in reducing the length of your Ph.D.
10. Bank Statement
Bank statement is mandatory to show any foreign country for different purposes of a visitor, a business or immigrants. These rules are not changeable for study, students also need to show the bank statement. So, applicants, you have to ensure that your all documents are ready. Sponsorship can be your parents or any other sponsors.
11. Study Gap Certificates
If you are not a current student or after complete your bachelor you left your study then you have to submit a gap certificate. Gap certificate is an affidavit that is used to show a gap in education or further study. Gap certificate provides your statement on the non-judicial stamp paper stating the reason for taking the gap and claim that you did not take admission to any other college, university or courses during the gap year. You can get this stamp paper from any notary, sub-registry office or court and contact with an advocate they will prepare your gap certificate.

Anhui Medical University, formerly known as Shanghai Southeastern Medical College, is one of the key universities in Anhui Province. Founded on May 29th, 1926, relocated to its present place and renamed Anhui Medical College in 1949. It officially became Anhui Medical University in June 1996. The campus covers an area of 860,000 square meters and with total floorage of about 700 thousand square meters. The campus proper seated on South No.1 Ring-Road of Hefei, with good environment and easy access.
AMU has the longest history and is also the first authorized university to admit Ph.D. and postdoctoral students in Anhui Province. In Anhui Province, it is a center for higher medical education, medical research, and medical treatment. There are 23 academic departments, such as; the First Clinical College (the First Affiliated Hospital), the 4th Clinical College l (Hefei No. 2 Hospital), Hangzhou Clinical College (Hangzhou No. 3 Hospital in Zhejiang Province ), College of Mental and Health Clinic and other clinics, College of Stomatology (the Affiliated Dental Hospital), the Provincial Clinical College (the Affiliated Provincial Hospital), the 2nd Clinical College, the 3rd Clinical College l (Hefei No. 1 Hospital), Graduate School, etc. The university has a faculty of 4889 teaching and providing medical services, among them 386 are professors, 741 associate professors, and over 138 doctoral graduates. Now, there are 8374 undergraduates, 830 postgraduates and doctoral students in this university.

Anhui Medical University is qualified by China MOE to offer fully English medium medical programs for foreign students, so the overseas students will have no language problems in class. Also, AMU has 4000 clinical sites that help internship students master medical knowledge and skills; and will take internship at home countries or in China.
Clinical Medicine (MBBS) is mainly to train the overseas students capacities of body structure and function in human beings, human behavior, and normal state of mind; Causes of common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases including mental illnesses, Pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, diagnosis and preventive ways of common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases; the impact of environmental, social, behavioral and psychological factors on the occurrence and development of diseases and the importance of disease prevention; Basic knowledge of pharmacology and clinical principles of rational drug use; Normal pregnancy and delivery, common obstetric emergency treatment, principles of prenatal and postnatal health care, and family planning; Health education and disease prevention, common diseases, disabilities, rehabilitation, hospice care, and general practice; Knowledge of clinical epidemiology; Basic patterns of development and spread of infectious diseases, and prevention of common infectious diseases.
MBBS course duration is 6 years. After graduation, students will be awarded Bachelor Degree of MBBS by Anhui Medical University. A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. The university has built up close links with other higher institutions in some European countries, USA and Japan. The establishment of research centers is the result of collaborations with Harvard University and Mayo Clinic in the USA, Osnabruck University of Applied Sciences in Germany Sino-Canada Children Foundation, and Karolinska Medical Institute in Sweden respectively.
